Pausing in Motion

"By learning to pause, we can receive sight that acts as a governor, pulling us back before we lurch into chaos, or sight that acts as fuel for the passion and activism we are drawn to."

Angie Winn

Chaos

 We are all human.

And that means we are living in some serious chaos.

If the outside world wasn't chaotic enough, our internal worlds are swirling with stress, ambiguity, and lack of direction. Often our actions aren't aligned with our intentions. We become harsh, depleted, abrupt, fragmented, reactionary. And we strive, grasp, numb, run, or hide. Chaos is not sustainable. Eventually it will begin to wreck not only our minds but our bodies, relationships, and overall well-being.

Stillness

There is a different way.

By experiencing stillness, or a Pause in the chaos, we can integrate all of us. A Pause allows us to settle our bodies, quiet our minds, let go of what our ego is gripping onto so we can open our hearts, and listen to our true selves as we connect to our source.

We can experience stability. We can be present.

And we uncover and become who we are created to be.

movement

When we are in a state of being, we can now move. But our movement is from a place of stability.  We can Pause in Motion, and live and lead with intention in our direction, integration of all of ourselves, and great impact in our world.

We can live the life we were designed to live.

Unfettered. Unhindered. And free.

What does pausing in motion actually do?

Whether you are an activist, a front-line worker, a leader, a team, a community, or just someone desiring resilience on their journey, learning to Pause in Motion can be transformative.

Pausing in Motion results in:

  • justice seekers and activists persevering in their passion without neglecting their own well-being or their family's
  • teams experiencing cohesiveness and agility as their outer landscape changes
  • leaders interacting in ways aligned with their values, and discerning the path for positive impact
  • teachers and hospital workers staying calm and grounded during high-stress moments
  • individuals navigating ways to live a life of intention and integration after experiencing disintegration of their community, their church, or their support systems
  • everyone moving and interacting from a place of their authentic selves, which breaks down barriers and division for a better world

A Pause is very practical, it is not some weird new-age concept. It is simply noticing our tendencies as we stray from our true selves and venture into chaos. It is a way for us to clearly see, see when our ego or false self is driving the ship. It is a way to have resilience in our lives, avoiding burnout.
